When this single gigantic sunflower volunteered in the middle of my backyard, I just had to paint it even though I really didn't think the world needed yet another sunflower painting!  Until I had one growing in my own yard I had not really looked at the flowers and seen how they progressed. Interesting to me how the petals twist and curl, finally.
All of these are 16" x 20"

Day One...all fresh and sparkly.

Day Three...leaves are being eaten but the flower looks good.

Day six....drooping, petals twisting.

By the eighth day the seed head was so heavy it pulled the whole plant nearly to the ground.
