Morning On The Creek

One morning I took my kayak out on a creek near my house before the morning fog had quite lifted, and was wrapped in quiet and peace. I painted this 10" x 8" pastel as soon as I got home.

I was visiting a friend in the mountains of West Virginia and leaning in her front doorway early one morning, chatting back over my shoulder with her...and when I turned back to look outside, this is what I saw....the moon hanging in a still dark sky, and the ridge on fire with sunrise.

One of the first pastels that I painted, titled 'Out of My Mind' because I made it up, sitting with my feet up and the pastelbord in my lap. This painting was my first glimpse of the possibilities of pastel.
