Fresh off the easel on the 14th of March 2009.
I have passed this old house many times and never noticed it, until one cold morning, early, the light was beautiful and the old house just glowed. Fabulous huge old trees! Frost on the field. Now I wonder if the house will be allowed to fall apart...
So I'm wondering just how much information is really necessary to say, "marsh" for instance. There is no limit to how detailed one can get....but just how little can I do....? I had started this painting in a fairly realistic manner and become frustrated. More detail was not saving it.

Painted on the 16th of April. This is a quick sketch from a photo I shot from my front door one morning before sunrise, after a snowfall. I could see a neighbors front porch light through the trees.
Beginning to like the way the masking tape looks....
